1). What is Sledgehammer?  ^
Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer is a type of obstacle course game that challenges physical and locomotor skills of participants in a series of physical tests designed to test the participants' strength, power, speed, stamina, skill, dexterity, determination, mental grit, and presence of mind while overcoming the challenges thrown out at them.
2). Is Sledgehammer safe?  ^
We take every precaution possible to make your experience of our challenge as safe and enjoyable as possible. We have at our disposal a vast mat-covered facility with various kinds of padded surfaces available as our prime safety measure. We also have special staff that we hire to act as spotters who follow you around as you move about the challenge area navigating through our obstacles and courses, who can catch and save you from a fall should an incident ever arise. We designed this event keeping your safety in mind. However, as with any activity, it is not possible to guarantee that an incident will not arise, or that you will not get injured. That is why they are called accidents. You will have to evaluate the level of risks involved and your capacity to take those risks for yourself before you participate. We advise you to read through and sign our Waiver in light of the same.
3). How do I register for Sledgehammer?  ^
Please go to the Register tab above, and follow the on-screen instructions.
4). Me and a few of my friends all want to participate in the challenge. Do we all have to register individually? Can't we just do one registration instead? Is there a procedure for bulk registration?  ^
For bulk registrations, please send us an email directly with the subject 'Sledgehammer Registration' and send in your query stating the details of how many people wish to register. We can discuss alternate registration and payment options there.
Bulk registrations containing five or more registrants will be eligible for our bulk discount in accordance with the prices and rates laid out on our Event Schedule and Prices page.

5). What do I do once online registrations for a particular Sledgehammer challenge are closed?  ^
We have to manually process receipt of each advance payment made to us before the event, for which we need to close online booking of Sledgehammer tickets a few days before the event is scheduled to be held. If you try to register too late after booking for an event has been closed, you can still come down to Sledgehammer on the event date, and register on the spot by paying the appropriate At Venue Price.
Details of all such charges for each event are available on our Event Schedule and Prices page.

6). How old must I be to participate in Sledgehammer?  ^
You must be atleast 16 years of age to participate in Sledgehammer.
Additionally, if you are above 16, but are still a minor, then you need to bring one of your parents along while attending the challenge.

7). Can women participate?  ^
Ofcourse! Infact, we encourage it.
We, at Parkour Mumbai, do not discriminate based on gender. (or any other thing for that matter.)

8). How long does Sledgehammer last?  ^
In our experience, 4-6 hours.
9). How many rounds will there be? What will they comprise?  ^
There will be five rounds in the challenge. Details about the rounds can be viewed on Challenge tab above.
10). What kind of obstacles will I face?  ^
If you haven't already gotten an idea of the kind of obstacles that await you after watching our teaser and trailer videos and the photographs peppered around this website, and also after reading through our Challenge page, then head over to our Obstacles page to see a sample of the kind of infrastructure we have and the kind of obstacles you will face.
Please note though, this is just an indicative list of obstacles you might face in the challenge, and not exhaustive. Also, it is not likely you will face all or even any of the obstacles mentioned on this page in the Sledgehammer Challenge you attend, since our course layouts tend to change with every challenge.

11). Can I view the courses in advance?  ^
No, the courses we set are different for each event, and are usually set up and changed during the event itself. Part of the Sledgehammer Challenge is to test the presence of mind of participants in the face of changing and uncertain circumstances while overcoming certain obstacles, so knowing the course beforehand would defeat the entire purpose. However, the course will be explained to you in detail before you attempt it.
12). Can I skip a course or a portion of the course?  ^
Ordinarily we do not recommend this, as you're losing out on something by skipping portions of courses or entire courses themselves, but then heck, you're here to have fun. So if you do not feel comfortable attempting certain portions of the challenge, you do not have to do them. However, please bear in mind that the moment you choose to skip a portion of a round or an entire round itself, you become ineligible to become a Challenge Winner, or be counted as a Round Winner for that particular round. Also, once you choose to skip a portion of a course, or even an entire course altogether, and move on, you forfeit the right to attempt it again later should you change your mind. In that case you would have to pay for the entire round extra in order to re-attempt it. (See "What if I want to attempt a course again?" below)
13). What if I really can't complete an obstacle?  ^
If you cannot complete an obstacle, or you seem to be stuck at a particular point, the event-director will determine whether it is safe for you to continue. His decision will be final.
14). How many attempts am I allowed?  ^
There are five courses in the challenge. You get one attempt per course. You have to go through each obstacle/station in each course serially. If you fail at any point or get disqualified as per course rules, or if the timer runs out in the timed rounds, you may still finish the rest of the course, but you will be ineligible to be counted as a Challenge Winner, or as a Round Winner for that particular round. However, if you fail at any point or get disqualified as per course rules in Round 5, you do not get to attempt the rest of the course.
15). So I get one shot at each course, right? What if I want to attempt it again?  ^
Assuming the obstacles in the course haven't been moved away to make way for the next course, if for any reason you wish to re-attempt the course (not having finished it and wishing to try it again, or to better your previous time, or you plain just had fun doing it and want to do it again) you can speak to the event-director, and register for attempting the round again at an additional charge per person, per round, per attempt.
16). I do not want to attempt the entire challenge. Can I just pay for individual courses that I do want to attempt as per the per-course charge above then?  ^
Nope. The additional charge per person, per round, per attempt applies only to people who have already registered for the entire challenge and wish to re-attempt individual courses. You cannot simply attempt individual courses by paying the additional per-course charge without first registering for the entire challenge.
17). Do you allow teams?  ^
No. The scope of the challenge has been structured such that the courses are conducted with one individual at a time. So this is not a team-based activity. However, you may come with a group of your friends and form informal teams, and challenge other individuals or groups of individuals or similarly formed informal teams in friendly (and safe) competition.
18). Are spectators allowed? Is there any charge to watch?  ^
Spectators make up the atmosphere of challenges like these. The expectant cheer of the crowd is what helps boost the morale of a lagging-behind participant. Spectators are welcome at the challenge, and there is no charge to come and watch.
19). Can I bring my friends?  ^
Sure. The more, the merrier. However, in order to participate, your friends would have to register on our registration page beforehand. Only people who have purchased participation tickets and completed our registration formalities before the start of the event will be allowed to participate.
20). Do I have to be a professional athlete or traceur to compete?  ^
No. But if you're not in shape chances are you will be crawling across the finish line. Sledgehammer is devised to push you beyond your limits both mentally and physically. And some challenges test out your strength and skill in more ways than one.
However, at the end of the day, it is the thrill of having tackled the challenges thrown at you head-on, having given your best shot, and having had a lot of fun doing it that counts, whether or not you manage to finish the courses.

21). How can I prepare for Sledgehammer?  ^
Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer is a tough event and following a workout regimen prior to the Challenge is very important. It will not only prepare you, but it will prevent you from injuring yourself. If you do not have access to good physical coaches or trainers, websites such as Crossfit or American Parkour are good starting points which post daily workout-of-the-day programs. These workouts will help to prepare you for the rigors of the Sledgehammer Challenge.

22). What must I bring to Sledgehammer?  ^
Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer is a grueling challenge. It is up to you to sustain yourself during the event. We recommend bringing the following with you to the Challenge:
• Water and food you may need during the course. (There is a water-fountain on the premises to refill your water bottles, and we will break for lunch in the middle of the challenge. Your participation ticket does not include food, and you may or may not wish to rely on the snack stall at the premises.)
• Comfortable clothes (You will be running, hanging, climbing, jumping, swinging, crawling, etc)
• Towels and spare change of clothing. You might want to get changed later, there are chances of getting dirty and a distinct possibility of getting sweaty during the challenge.

24). What happens if the weather is bad?  ^
Most of the challenge happens indoors, so we shouldn't be affected. For the rare chance that it does rain out of season, just man-up and be prepared to get a little wet during those portions of the challenge that take place outdoors.
25). Can I transfer my registration to someone else?  ^
No. Registrations are non-transferable.
26). I have registered and paid part (or full) of the amount to you in advance. I don't think I want to do this anymore. What is your refund procedure??  ^
Parkour Mumbai does not issue refunds under any circumstances or for any reason. Please make sure you wish to really participate in this when you register, because we won't refund you the amount paid if you change your mind later.
However, in the event Sledgehammer has to be canceled or postponed, we will make every effort to reschedule the Challenge.

27). I registered for Sledgehammer. Now what?  ^
You will receive a confirmation email immediately after registering. You will also receive additional emails the week of the event.
28). Do you have a bag check or key check on event day?  ^
No. You are responsible for everything you bring. If you have to bring something make sure you are comfortable storing your stuff along with everyone else's bags in one corner of the gym. We recommend not bringing anything valuable to the Sledgehammer Challenge.
29). Can I wear a costume?  ^
Sure! If you're into that sort of thing.
30). Do I have to sign a waiver to participate?  ^
Yes. When you arrive on event day, you must sign a waiver in which you acknowledge (among other things) that by participating in Sledgehammer you expose yourself to certain risks, including the risk of personal injury. For legal reasons, we suggest that you read and understand the waiver before you sign it on event day. The waiver is available for your perusal here.
31). Can I participate in more than one Sledgehammer Challenge?  ^
Absolutely! Actually, we encourage it. We hope to hold atleast one Sledgehammer Challenge every month. So if you liked our challenge and would like to participate again, do come again. And do not forget to tell your friends about it either. And while you're at it, `Like` our facebook page, click `Share`, and help spread the word.
32). Why Sledgehammer?  ^
Have you seen television game shows on Pogo or Nickleodeon? Have you seen the ones that involve physical challenges? Haven't you ever wished you could participate in one of them. Haven't you ever wished more such shows were made in India and not just in Japan? Haven't you wished that even if one existed here, finding it, and getting selected in it would be an easier process? If yes to the above questions, then the Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer Challenge is for you.
Even if none of the above applies, if you have ever loved a good physical challenge, then Sledgehammer is for you.
Even if none of the above applies, if you have ever loved a good physical challenge, then Sledgehammer is for you.
33). Is Sledgehammer a TV Show?  ^
No. This is not a television production or a game show. This is simply a physical game that has been recreated from elements found in other physical games, that puts participants through similar challenges as seen in some television game shows, but in a smaller simulated environment. Participants enter the Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer just for the physical challenge, and for the thrill and exhilaration of having completed the challenge.
34). Are you planning on making this a television show?  ^
No. Not at the moment. Converting this event to any kind of television production brings with it its own set of limitations, which tend to take away from the nature of the challenge in favor of that which works on screen and for an audience. Plus repeated takes which are an essential part of the filming process aren't exactly suited to the nature of our challenge.
35). Will the Sledgehammer Challenge be filmed in any way?  ^
Yes. Parkour Mumbai will capture the proceedings of the Sledgehammer Challenge on still and video cameras, and might produce and release videos of the events on its online channels.
36). Is photography/videography permitted?  ^
Yes. You can shoot the challenge on your own still or video cameras for personal use. You may also upload these online.
However, any form of professional photography/videography, News or TV coverage, any kind of recording for commercial use etc., is not permitted without prior written permission of Parkour Mumbai Management.

38). Who/What is Parkour Mumbai?  ^
Parkour Mumbai is one of India's oldest Parkour communities and India's premier Parkour organization. Parkour Mumbai was created as an organization to bring together Parkour practitioners from around this region and to give them a common platform to communicate and collaborate on their Parkour journey. Parkour Mumbai currently focuses its efforts on teaching and spreading the discipline of Parkour in Mumbai and India in a positive manner.
39). Why is Parkour Mumbai conducting this Sledgehammer Challenge?  ^
The physical skills learnt through the practice of the discipline of Parkour lend themselves very well to physical challenges that test these locomotor skills of an individual.
Parkour Mumbai has at its disposal a good training facility with a variety of equipment, and this provides a lot of suitable infrastructure for conducting this kind of an activity. Plus, being Parkour practitioners and the pioneers of Parkour in the country, Parkour Mumbai also brings to the table a vast expertise and experience in the art of obstacle-navigation, terrain-traversal, strong-man training, and general physical training, all of which also form the core of the Sledgehammer Challenge.
(And the founder/owner of Parkour Mumbai was always interested in the same game-shows and physical challenges mentioned above, and always wanted to participate in one himself. By introducing the Sledgehammer Challenge in India, he is fulfilling one of his childhood dreams, and maybe those of countless others as well.)

40). But I heard there was no competition in Parkour?  ^
We never said this was a Parkour competition either. ;)
This is a competition designed to guage and test your broad physical capabilities (many of which can be effectively developed through training in the discipline of Parkour, which is a different matter altogether).
This is not a Parkour event, and you do not have to be a Parkour practitioner (traceur) in order to participate in the Sledgehammer Challenge.
