Come participate in the toughest one-day challenge you will ever find in your life. Test your physical and locomotor skills in a series of 5 rounds designed to test your strength, power, speed, stamina, skill, dexterity, determination, mental grit, and presence of mind in a single day at a single event, and also have a whole lot of fun attempting it.
Be warned though - completing our courses is not easy. You won't be competing against anyone else as much as you'll be competing against the course itself. At the end, you will be required to give it every last ounce of strength and physical capability you have to finish the challenge.
The entire challenge comprises of 5 rounds or courses, each testing a different aspect of your physical abilities. The fifth and last round will be a hybrid round comprising elements from all previous courses.
Each participant will get one shot at each course, and one shot at each individual obstacle or station they encounter in each course. Each participant will also have each of their runs through all five courses timed.
If you fail at any point or get disqualified as per course rules, or if the allotted time runs out in the timed rounds (Rounds 1, 2, and 4) before you manage to successfully run through them without getting disqualified, you may still finish the rest of the course, but you will be ineligible to be counted as a Round Winner for that round.
We can still time the total time taken for you to finish the rounds, regardless of whether you finish them flawlessly or within the allotted time, so that you can get to see where you stand. Because after all, participating in Sledgehammer is not just about the competition (between you and the course) or the challenge, it's about the fun!
The last round is a bit more complex, and tends to get increasingly difficult as the round progresses. Although this is not a time-based round, if you are disqualified as per course rules at any point during Round 5, you cannot attempt the rest of the course.
If you wish to try out any course an additional time, you can speak to the event-director, and register for attempting the round again at an additional charge per person, per round, per attempt, but before the course is dismantled to make way for the next round.
The main point here is to successfully complete all courses. Winning is not important. Neither is finishing faster than someone else. What is important though, is having fun, giving it your best shot, and trying to finish each course, one at a time, to the best of your abilities, because our challenge is not for the faint of heart. If you manage to finish the challenge without failing or getting disqualified, and within the allotted time, you will go in a boy, and come out a man.
However, for the extremely competitive-minded amongst you, we will still record your course completion timings on all courses, so that provided you finish the courses, you can compare times, and try to better your timings next time.
Please read through our FAQ to understand our full set of rules for participating in the challenge.
Point A to Point B Round:
The first will be a completely speed based obstacle course round. You will simply have to navigate through a military-inspired obstacle course laid out in front of you as fast as you can before the timer runs out, and successfully reach the other side.
Escort Round:
In this round, you have to 'escort' a training ball through the obstacle course laid out in front of you as fast as possible before the timer runs out. Letting the ball fall to the ground will disqualify you (but you may still pick the ball back up and try to attempt the rest of the course once if you like).
Navigation Challenge Round:
The third round will be difficulty-based rather than speed or time based. You will have to complete traversal through certain difficult navigational challenges laid out around the challenge area. You will have to successfully complete ALL tasks in this course. For time-keeping purposes, the time taken to get from one navigational challenge obstacle to another will not be counted, but the amount of time you spend on each navigational challenge obstacle will be recorded.
Strongman Round:
The fourth round will be rather short, but highly intensive and physically taxing. Think the Marathon on steroids, but not as lengthy. You will navigate through our series of training stations around the challenge area as fast as possible before the timer runs out, trying to get to each station, and completing strong-man tasks, such as pushing a heavy sled, dragging a heavy punching bag, flipping a tire, climbing up and down a rope, etc.
Final Hybrid Round:
Here you will be thrown challenges from all the rounds you have faced before, and have to complete a timed run through the obstacle course as fast as possible. There is no countdown timer involved, you can take all the time you want. However, should you get disqualified at any point as per course rules, unlike the previous rounds, you will not be allowed to finish the round. The obstacle course will mainly consist of getting from one point to another, but can also include specific navigational-challenge difficulties from the third round, exercise stations from the fourth round, and escort missions from the second round, all randomly placed on the course. Here you will put to test all the skills developed through the previous rounds, and emerge a winner upon successfully completing the course. To have completed the fifth round is an accomplishment in itself even if you do not complete any other rounds. You should be proud.
As our special introductory offer, each participant has to pay only Rs. 550/- as ticket price.
Please go through our Event Schedule and Prices page to see our detailed pricing options for each event.
(Prices subject to go up for future events.)
Sledgehammer is a challenge, not a race. Everyone who finishes all five rounds is a winner.
In addition, anyone who manages to finish individual rounds as well is also a winner in his own right. At the risk of repeating ourselves - our courses are not meant to be easy. So every successful course run is an accomplishment.
However, for those extremely competitively minded amongst you who would inevitably participate, if you wish to have any sort of race or competition to determine the grand winner, here's how it will be done:
At the end of all five rounds, all non-disqualified participants will have their timings from rounds 1, 2, 4 and 5, and their timings from all individual obstacles in round 3 totaled. The person with the least cumulative course-completion time will be crowned the Challenge Grand Winner from among the Challenge Winners. Round Grand Winners will also be declared for individual rounds for rounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 based on fastest completion time. Round Grand Winner for round 3 will be the participant with the fastest completion time from the cumulative completion time of all individual obstacles. However, all of this inter-participant competition is not strictly speaking a part of the Challenge, and will be done for entertainment sake only.
(If you participate in any round more than once by paying the additional charge, the least completion time of all such attempts will be taken into account while calculating cumulative course timings to determine the winner.)
PRIDE! Pride at having completed one of the most grueling physical challenges you are ever going to come across in your life.
At stake here is a Cash Prize of Rs. 5000/- to the Challenge Winner, i.e. anyone who finishes the entire Challenge successfully, without disqualification, and within the allotted times.
There are additional prizes to be won by Round Winners, i.e., people who successfully complete individual rounds, in the form of exclusive Parkour Mumbai and Sledgehammer T-Shirts, and other miscellaneous Parkour Mumbai merchandise.
Sledgehammer Challenge is scheduled to be held once a month, although this monthly run is not set in stone.
Please see our Event Schedule and Prices page for our detailed schedule of planned and past events. We also have a nifty countdown timer on the Sledgehammer homepage that shows you the time left for the next scheduled Sledgehammer Challenge.
